Housing Code Violations

The DC government intends to enforce the housing code to the fullest extent and hold those landlords who do not live up to their responsibilities accountable for their actions.

To this end, the Office of the Attorney General has filed criminal charges against several landlords charging them with various and numerous housing code violations. The nature of the violations range from nonworking smoke detectors and rodent infestation to holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. The Office of the Attorney General is putting significant pressure on all landlords to repair the housing code violations and provide safe and habitable living conditions for the residents of this community.

Any questions, comments or concerns regarding the Housing Code Violation Program can be directed to the Neighborhood and Victim Services Section at (202) 727-3500.
