The Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia is defending the District's ban on hazardous materials being shipped through the city. In February, the DC Council passed, and the Mayor signed into law, the "Terrorism Prevention in Hazardous Materials Transportation Emergency Act of 2005." The measure is intended to regulate the transportation of ultra-hazardous chemicals in the nation's capital.
