Public Advocacy Section

The Public Advocacy Section of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is responsible for enforcing the District’s civil False Claims Act which authorizes the OAG to bring actions in the District of Columbia Superior Court seeking damages, civil fines and/or penalties in cases where the District has been defrauded. Each year, several potential false claims cases are referred to the OAG for consideration. These cases arise out of a variety of transactions in which fraud is alleged. These include, for example, Medicaid claims that involve pharmaceutical companies and Medicaid dollars, fraudulent or false claims submitted by those contracting with or receiving grants from the District, or overpayments to District employees.

To learn more about the DC False Claims Act, select the link below. If you wish to report a civil false claim to the OAG, fill out the complaint form.
