Designation of Officers to Accept Service of Process

The AG is now authorized to accept service of process for the Mayor when he is sued in either his official or individual capacity for his official duties as Mayor. This Order does not authorize the AG to accept service for personal matters not related to the Mayor's official duties. The AG is also authorized to accept service for the Mayor when the Mayor is not a party to the lawsuit but is being served as the agent for the District of Columbia whether the case is in Superior Court or the US District Court. The Order does not invalidate service that is accomplished directly on the Mayor. The Order simply authorizes the AG to accept service on the Mayor's behalf.
